The Bellevue Police Department K9 Unit depends greatly on public support. The purchases of Police Service Dogs (PSDs), some supplies and protective equipment would not be possible without financial support from the public. For example, all three PSDs are now equipped with stab and bullet resistant vests due to financial support from citizens and Petland Omaha. The vests are vital pieces of equipment that provide essential protection of the PSDs as they provide protection to their officers and the public. With continued financial support, BPD hopes to expand the unit to include more K9 teams.
